Museum Online CollectionTo search through the museum collection, click on the link above. The Museum works with the community to preserve materials in West Vancouver and has adopted a philosphy to "actively collect but not necessarily own". In this way 'community collections' remain under the ownership and authority of the community, and are made accessible to the great public through loans to exhibitions. A small permanent collection of consisting of: foresty, homelife, schools, recreation, photography, May Day, the Lawson family and other West Vancouver ephemera is maintained and added to as necessary for significant or fragile items. The WVMA has an innovative Community Collections program that allows owners of historically significant objects to register their willingness to lend these objects to the Museum, while continuing to enjoy them in their own setting. We currently have over three hundred objects registered with the Community Collection. For every object in the Community Collection, the Museum keeps a record of the object's history and its condition. We take a digital photograph of the object so we have a good idea of what it looks like. Please note that all information kept in the collectin records is strictly confidential. We accept any histroically significant object related to West Vancouver into the Community Collection. Because the Museum is devoted to the history of West Vancouver, objects in the Collection must have some relationship to the municipality, whether they were made here, sold here, owned by someone who lived here, or relate to West Vancouver in some way. If you have an object related to the history of West Vancouver, and would like to be part of our Community Collection, contact the Collections Coordinator Magdalena Moore, at 604.925.7295 or email at mmoore@westvancouver.net To search the West Vancouver Museums on-line collection, please click here.
